Exciting Updates and Events at J.N. “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge

Are you looking for a fun and educational way to spend your summer days? Look no further than the J.N. “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge! From now until July 31, the refuge is offering a variety of Free Summer Programs that are sure to delight nature lovers of all ages.

Led by refuge staff and volunteers, these programs include a Wildlife Drive Caravan Tour, Restorative Nature Walk, Insect Insanity, and Ranger’s Choice. Whether you’re interested in learning about the diverse wildlife that calls the refuge home or simply want to enjoy a leisurely walk in nature, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

In addition to the Free Summer Programs, there are also several special events coming up at the refuge. On September 28, admission to Wildlife Drive will be free in honor of National Public Lands Day. Then, on October 13, the refuge will kick off National Wildlife Refuge Week with waived admission fees for Wildlife Drive. And don’t forget to mark your calendars for fee-free admission on Veterans Day, November 11.

Looking ahead, there are even more exciting events to look forward to at the refuge. Photographer-artist Niki Butcher’s “Daydreaming” exhibition kickoff has been postponed until the late fall, while Wellness in Nature is planned for January. In February, get ready to Go Wild for “Ding” with a special event focusing on White Pelicans. And mark your calendars for the 13th annual “Ding” Darling & Doc Ford’s Tarpon Tournament on May 9.
