Celebrate Independence Day at Colonial Williamsburg with Free Admission and Festivities
Are you looking for a fun and historical way to celebrate Independence Day this year? Look no further than Colonial Williamsburg! The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation is offering free single-day admission tickets to its Historic Area and Art Museums on July 4th from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Imagine celebrating Independence Day alongside Thomas Jefferson, Martha Washington, and other members of the nation’s founding generation. You can witness a Declaration of Independence Reading, a Salute to the States, a Noon Reading of the Declaration, and even participate in a military drill with members of the Virginia State Garrison Regiment.
The day will culminate in a spectacular fireworks display above the Governor’s Palace, sponsored by the City of Williamsburg. You can also enjoy musical performances, historic trade demonstrations, building tours, and more throughout the day.
Transportation and parking options are available around the perimeter of the Historic Area, in downtown Williamsburg, and at the Visitor Center. Complimentary bus service is provided by the Williamsburg Area Transit Authority, so getting around is easy.
Food and beverage options are plentiful, ranging from grab-and-go snacks to reservation-only buffets. You can find more information about dining options on the Colonial Williamsburg website.
In case of unfavorable weather conditions, updates on the status of the fireworks will be posted on the foundation’s social media channels. Visitors can pre-register for complimentary tickets on the Colonial Williamsburg website and find answers to frequently asked questions about the event.
Don’t miss this opportunity to celebrate Independence Day in the place where our national identity was first shaped. Join us in Colonial Williamsburg for a day of history, celebration, and fireworks!
