Nalis Receives EBSCO Acurilean Award for Leadership in Access to Electronic Content

In the world of libraries and information systems, the National Library and Information System Authority (Nalis) in Trinidad and Tobago is making waves once again. At the recent Association of Caribbean University, Research and Institutional Libraries (ACURIL) conference in Guyana, Nalis was honored with the prestigious EBSCO Acurilean Award for Leadership in the Use of Technologies to Expand and Facilitate Access to Electronic Content.

This is not the first time Nalis has been recognized for its commitment to providing equitable access to electronic content. In fact, they also won this award back in 2022, showcasing their consistent dedication to staying at the forefront of technological advancements in the library world.

EBSCO Information Services, a renowned provider of library products and services worldwide, presented the award to Nalis in recognition of their innovative initiatives and best practices in the field. From their adoption of database subscriptions to the introduction of digital magazines via the Flipster portal, Nalis has been proactive in expanding their online offerings to meet the evolving needs of their users.

One of the key highlights of Nalis’ recent initiatives is the adoption of Folio, a cutting-edge integrated library management system provided by EBSCO. This new system is set to revolutionize the way users interact with the library’s resources, offering a seamless and user-friendly experience for accessing both electronic and print materials.

With a track record of excellence in service delivery, including past awards such as the OCLC Award for Innovative Co-operation Initiatives in the Caribbean and the Ministry of Public Administration Excellence in Service Delivery Award, Nalis continues to set the bar high for library services in the region.

As Nalis gears up for full adoption of the Folio system by July 31, the future looks bright for this forward-thinking institution. Congratulations to Nalis on this well-deserved recognition, and here’s to many more years of leadership in the world of library technology and innovation.
